“Basil manufactures rocksolid Dutch Design”

Straightforward, out of the box, innovative: Dutch design holds a unique spot in the world. From the 21st until the 29th of October the Dutch Design Week (DDW) takes place in Eindhoven. Basil proudly presents a design bicycle backpack, a dog basket and a bicycle double bag during the exhibition Dutch Bike. Curator of the exposition Leonne Cuppen: “ This is rocksolid design”.

What is exactly the Dutch Bike exhibition?
“Dutch Bike is an exhibition that features  not only the latest, best but also the most remarkable design by Dutch bicycle designers. From a 3D printed steel bicycle frame to a bicycle made of plastic that can be recycled. After the kickoff in Arnhem in June the exhibition can now be visited during the Dutch Design Week in Eindhoven
.”

What makes Basil’s designs unique?
“Basil’s designs are as innovative as they are classic. That is exactly what makes it unique Dutch design. Take for example the Urban Load Doublebag
: a timeless and rocksolid design. The same goes for the bicycle bells: no one day hit wonders, but really classic timeless design."

Which design stands out in particular?
“The Buddy bicycle dog basket! When I showed it in Japan, people were thrilled with the idea. Both the concept (transporting your dog on your bicycle!) as well as the synthetic material are well received. An innovative and technical design that is integrated into the luggage carrier. Shape, technology and functionality all come together in this design. That kind of integration matches perfectly with the DDW."
