The Basil Portland Front Carrier High is a vintage style carrier in eye-catching aluminium, suitable for use with various bags from the Basil Portland collection. In addition to bags from this range, this carrier will accommodate similarly sized and shaped bags with ease. At the front end is a removable strap that helps keep your chosen bag or basket in place during journeys. The carrier has a maximum load capacity of 10kg and is suitable for attachment to 26 and 28 inch bike frames. The Front Carrier High from the Basil Portland range sports rounded edges for an eye-catching finish, with easy attachment that requires minimal fuss and no complex tools. This carrier also allows you to attach a lamp to enhance visibility in the dark. What’s more, the front support is bolstered by a front fork bracket, suitable for 12-13mm axles.

I just bought it, not tested, but i can’t find the materials of which strap is made, is it vegan-friendly? Because looks like leather…(. I have had the same version with brown belt. Looked premium, very cool. Unfortunately it is not very durable. First crash and the carrier became unusable. I have ordered a new one and this one looks way worse. Instead of the premium look, now it it has plastic on it. Now it looks cheap. Dear Mr. Petrescu, thank you for your review. new version, not real chrome....! Dear MR, thank you for your mail. It is correct that the Portland carrier is not chrome, only the color is chrome. What was once a beautiful front rack has aged rather badly. After just a few months the chrome began flake and corrode away exposing the raw base metal below. Such a shame because there are few racks that looks as good as this one originally did. Structurally it still holds up after months of regular use but its looks fade quickly and it now appears rather ugly Dear Alex, thank you for your review - we really appreciate this. The rack itself is good and useful, but has the following problems: - Not real chrome. It's a crome coating, that peals out leaving the oxidized aluminum exposed. Doesn't compromise safety but it's no longer good looking. - The metal piece that connects to the fork crown bends easily - The light mounting point is located on the opposite side of the hub dynamo plug, so you have to route wires around the rack Given the price I expected more.
